Every homily that Irina delivers comes with a set of discussion questions. These are posted in our service leaflets, as well as on her blog, where the homilies appear a few days in advance of each Sunday. The blog has a commenting feature, in which you are welcome to share your thoughts and answers to these questions, as well as to those that Irina raises spontaneously as part of her homilies (they rarely get delivered exactly as written!). Irina also invites interactions with the congregation during the homily, as time permits. The order of service each week contains additional material, such as famous poems, quotes, or prayers, to facilitate reflection through the week.

Sundays 8:30-9:30 am is a clergy-led “Adult Sunday School” opportunity. Sessions are offered in blocks of several weeks-long. These sessions take a summer break over July and August, and run September-June.

Starting February 15th, in our study we will explore the traditional Lenten disciplines—prayer, reading Scripture, almsgiving, and fasting— consider their scriptural roots, make connections to music and art, and brainstorm ways to practice these disciplines in contemporary life in a non-punitive and life-giving way. There will be no study session on February 22nd.

Monday Lenten Study and Lunch occurs over Lent at 12:00nn beginning February 23rd.

An additional weekday Lenten study opportunity will take place on Mondays at noon, beginning February 23, with lunch provided. These sessions will focus on African American spirituals—sacred music that conveys themes especially fitting for this season of reflection and familiar to us through our choir’s beautiful performances. This series is intentionally experiential rather than academic, so please consider attending even if education sessions are not usually part of your routine. All are welcome but to assist us with catering the lunch, please do contact the office 416-488-0079 or office@sttimothy.ca and let us know if you plan to attend.

Breakaway Weekend: this event has occurred for 20+ years, around the beginning of February at Fair Havens Bible Conference near Beaverton, attended by 50-80 people. A guest speaker gives three talks to the adults over the weekend while the children have supervised fun. More about Breakaway under the “Friendships” tab. 2026 dates: January 30 – February 1. Contact the office if you’d like to attend.
